
Khadija Khatun, assistant station master of Akkelpur Railway Station, told bdnews24.com that the accident took place on Saturday morning while a Parbatipur-bound Eid special train was passing Halhalia Bridge.
The three travelers on the rooftop fell off when they had been hit by an iron structure of the Halhalia Bridge, Khadija added.
Jashim Uddin, officer in-charge (OC) of Santahar Railway Police Station, said local residents rescued and admitted them to Akkelpur Upazila Health Complex. Later they were taken to Bogra Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital as their condition deteriorated.
They died on Saturday noon during treatment at Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital.
The deceased were identified as 'Ujjal', son of Rowshan Ali of Parbatipur of Dinajpur, 'Dulal', son of Shona Mia of Kaharol upazila of same district, and Zulfikar Ali, son of Habibur Rahman of Nilphamari district.
Meanwhile, another unnamed person died on Saturday noon while undergoing treatment at Kumudini Hospital as he fell off a running train Friday night at Dehobhog of Muirzapur upazila of Tangail.
However, three people died on the spot from the same accident Friday night at Dehobhog of Mirzapur.
Kazi Harun-ur-Rashid, sub-inspector of Dhaka Railway Police station, said the dead bodies would be sent to their relatives after legal procedures.
