
The people of these villages synchronise with the Middle East, Saudi Arabia in particular, in celebration and observance of Muslim religious occasions like Ramadan, Eid-ul-Fitr, Shab-e-Barat and Shab-e Meraj.
"Eid-ul-Azha will be observed on Sunday," said Pir Maulana Abu Jofar Mohammad Abdul Hye of Sadra. He said several thousand villagers of about 50 villages including those of Hajiganj have been following the Saudi religious practices for long and accordingly preparations are afoot.
The Eid congregation will take place at 10am at Sadra Maidan and be joined by about 6,000 men. Pir Abdul Hye will lead the prayer as Imam.
The villages where Eid-ul-Azha prayers will be held include Sadra, Someshpur, Olipur, Balakhal, Monirhar, Bholach, Pratappur,and Bashara Mulparha Badarpur and Aitparha under Hajiganj,; Uvarampur,Uttali,Munshirhat, Mulpara Badarpur, Aitparha, Surangachar, Baluthuba,Kaitparha, Noorpur, Sachonmegh, Sholla, Hansa, Gobinapur under Faridganj, Dashani, Mohanpur and Panchani under Matlab and some villages under Shahrasti and Kachua upazila.
Late Pir of Sadra Sharif Maulana Ishaque introduced the observance of all religious festivals and functions in this manner according to lunar calendar in 1931.
