Faridpur additional superintendent of police (ASP) Subrata Kumar Howlader has been made acting Narsinghdi SP. Subrata Kumar told bdnews24.com he had taken charge of his office at 9pm Saturday.
In the wake of murder of the town's popular mayor Lokman Hosasain, the Narsingdi SP and his two deputies were "withdrawn" on Friday.
The changes in the district police administration came after top leaders of the ruling Awami League were accused of killing Lokman in a murder case filed by his brother, Kamruzzaman.
Lokman was shot dead in the town on Tuesday night by some unknown assailants.
Salahuddin Ahmed Bachchu, younger brother of telecommunications minister Raziuddin Ahmed Razu, and 13 others were named by Kamruzaman in the case.
