Bachchu, the prime accused in Lokman Hossain murder case, e-mailed from his son Afsar Ahmed's account on Saturday saying the case against him was a 'conspiratorial and fake case'.
He also demanded exemplary punishment of those involved in the murder.
Narsinghdi municipal mayor and town Awami League general secretary Lokman Hossain was shot dead in the town on Tuesday night by masked assailants. Less than 48 hours later, his brother Kamruzzaman filed a murder case accusing Bachchu, younger brother of telecommunications minister Raziuddin Ahmed Razu, and 13 others.
Most of the accused are members of the ruling party. None have been arrested so far. However, opposition BNP's district unit president Khairul Kabir Khokon was arrested hours after Lokman's death
Bachchu claimed he was 'in no way involved in conspiring for Lokman's murder'.
"Let alone compete for it, I have never even expressed the desire for the district general secretary post," he further claimed.
Local BCL leaders earlier said the fact that Raju's brother Bachchu and Lokman were both aiming to run for district general secretary of the party may have been a motivation behind the murder.
