Her comment came on Saturday, two days after Awami League-backed mayoral candidate Shamim Osman's claim that he had clue 'there could be militant attack before the (Oct 30) election.'
In response to reporters' queries after a seminar at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), the home minister, however, refused to comment on Shamim's apprehension on Saturday.
"I did not hear his (Shamim's) comment. I won't say anything. But there is no militant in Bangladesh," she said. "We have eliminated them over the last three years."
The home minister said the NCC election would be held 'peacefully'.
She would not comment on the non-deployment of the military despite request by the Election Commission.
The Election Commission (EC) on Friday said Shamim could be disqualified if 'his apprehensions of pre-polls violence are found baseless.'
"If his information is false, stern legal action will be taken against him. If needed, his candidature will be cancelled," chief election commissioner A T M Shamsul Huda told reporters on Friday evening.
The home ministry has been asked to investigate the matter and submit findings within seven days, he added.
Shahara also claimed law and order situation was 'better in 2011 compared to the last 10 years.'
The EC has sought army to guard against foul play feared by two key candidates in the Narayangang election. The army was scheduled to be posted on Friday.
An embarrassed chief election commissioner, who had been kept in the dark about the army's failure to carry out his instructions, called for "a full investigation".
