Trading at the Dhaka Stock Exchange started on a downward slope, with the general index losing 92 points or 1.65 percent within the first hour and quarter of trade on the second last trading day of the week. The general index stood at 5463.22 at around 12.18pm on Wednesday with shares worth Tk 1.35 billion changing hands.
Prices of only 14 issues rose, while 198 fell and six remained unchanged.
