The defence in a murder case has allegedly filed a forged high court bail order with a Gaibandha court, in a bid to free the accused. The complaint was placed before the joint bench of justices A H M Shamsuddin Chowdhury and Jahangir Hossain on Tuesday. Later the court fixed Wednesday for the hearing.
Government officer of the bench barrister A B M Altaf Hossain told bdnews24.com, "This is a writ bench. It has no right to grant bail. However, a copy of a bail order form this court was submitted to the district court. In the order, the bench extended bail for eight more months."
He pointed out that "though the bail order was given by judge Nuruzzaman Mia, there is not such judge at the High Court."
Elaborating that the case that the case was filed on May 8 over a clash at Chandipur village of Sundarganj upazila of Gaibandha disctrict, Sundarganj police chief Abu Mohammad Delwar Hassan said, "At first the case was filed as a clash case. But on the death of a victim, who was under treatment, the case was refiled as a murder case."
The plaintiff of the case Abdur Rashid said, "We filed a case against 23 people. On May 20, 16 of the accused were granted bail from the High Court. Later the same month, a charge sheet was given against 21."
