The assurance came when Bangladesh ambassador to the US, Akramul Qader, met with the Congressman and discussed issues pertaining to Bangladesh-US relations on Tuesday, said a press release from the Bangladesh embassy in the US.
Congressman Clarke informed the envoy that he had recently discussed the issue with Rep Jim McDermott (D-WA), who is engaged with the appropriate measures in that respect.
Ambassador Qader also sought Clarke's support in deporting self-confessed killer of Bangabandhu Rashed Chowdhury and bringing him to justice.
Rashed Chowdhury is currently living in the US. The foreign minister during her recent meeting with secretary of state Hillary Clinton also sought her help in deporting the killer.
The congressman wanted to learn more from the ambassador about Bangladesh's energy sector and power generation capacity and other investment related issues.
